Managing the Teams Directory
Byga Team Management is a core capability of the Byga system.
Byga Team Management starts in Admin → Teams where teams can be added to the system. Teams can also be found via Directory → Teams.
Team tabs include Competitive Teams and Program Registration Teams. The Competitive Teams tab includes teams that are not affiliated with any competitive or program registration.
Note, managing team rosters or a team staff role in managing teams is outside the scope of this document.
There are two default Team Group (Competitive and Programs) with permissions typical of competitive teams and recreation / camp teams, but they can be modified and new ones can be added and customized.
Team Group Actions
Team Grouping menu:
- Settings: update name, sort option, and team admin roles available when using “Add staff” action
- Permissions: permissions for the Team Grouping
- Delete: delete the Team Grouping if no teams exist
Team Role Display per Team Group
- A subset of Team Staff/Admins that are used in a Team Group can be selected for display in the Team Directory. Note, all Team Staff/Admins will still be displayed within the specific team page on the web or mobile app.
One or multiple teams can be selected for the following actions:

The following menu items are available for each team:
- Settings: to add or edit team specific information
- Add staff: to add coaches or managers
- Email parents/staff: opens a Byga message pre-selecting the player contacts and team staff.
- Merge events: used to merge placeholder events with system events discovered by Byga

Program Team Group
As noted earlier, there are two default Team Groups (Competitive and Programs) with permissions typical of competitive teams and recreation / camp teams, but these can be modified and new ones can be added and customized.
Custom Team Groupings
Organizing a new team grouping (e.g., Competitive, Recreational, Camps, etc.) is recommended when parent or team staff permissions require unique settings. A secondary benefit of a new team grouping is more convenient messaging for each team grouping.
Caution should be taken when creating new team groupings due to the overhead of maintaining permissions for each team grouping. Therefore it is normally not recommended to create additional team groupings only for messaging flexibility as options are available to message certain teams.
The following cases should be considered when creating a new team grouping:
- to provide unique permissions settings to users or staff of one or more programs
- to provide users or team staff greater access or visibility to the teams in one or more programs than to teams in other programs
- to organize teams for messaging flexibility despite the permissions overhead and understand there are options for messaging
Hidden Teams
For various reasons, it is better to hide teams that are not active. Users associated with these teams will not see these teams in their accounts.
Adding Teams
From the Club Teams screen, existing teams can be found or added individually using the “+ Team” button or in bulk via the “Upload Teams” button.
Adding Teams Individually
Teams can be added individually. Add required info (e.g., names and gender). Some information is optional (e.g,. Training size). Refer to the Team Settings section for more info.
Adding Teams via Upload
Teams can be added via a .csv file upload.
The following is an example of the required .csv format.
team name | birth year | gender | game format | team group |
U13 DA | 2007 | Boys | 11v11 | Recreational |
- A standard birth year rate range is used by default. Ask Byga Support if a different range of birth years is required.
- Gender options are Boys, Girls, or Co-ed
- Game format options include: 11v11, 8v8, 7v7, 5v5, 4v4, in house
- Team Group can be specified in upload
